Acceptable Identification for Notarization in North Carolina
North Carolina notaries must identify the signer through satisfactory evidence of identity, usually a current government-issued photo ID.
Primary Acceptable IDs
- NC Driver’s License
- NC State Identification Card
- Driver’s License or ID issued by another U.S. state or territory
- U.S. Passport
- Foreign Passport (often acceptable if properly issued/validated)
